Stephen Ives’ Surreal Deconstructed Toy Sculptures

British artist Stephen Ives creates polished sculptures out of found objects. Predominantly working with recycled children’s toys, Ives deconstructs his materials, depriving them of their functionality, and uses them as building blocks for his surreal visions. The results are surprising and humorous; the recognizable traces of baby doll heads and cartoon character action figures add a sense of lightness to works that can sometimes be grotesque and visceral. Take a look at some of the sculptures after the jump, images courtesy of Stephen Ives.
