Meghan Howland creates moody paintings with loose brush strokes, examining brooding youths through a hazy lens. Her disillusioned characters appear delicate yet unaware of their own beauty. Their faces are often obscured or their eyes are closed, as if they are avoiding a painful confrontation. The result is an emotionally poignant body of work that allows the viewer to fill in the blanks. Take a look at some of Meghan Howland’s works after the jump.
