Lisa Nilsson’s Internal Body Landscapes

Branded | 08 February 2013 | Hi Fructose | | 0 Comments

Visual artist Lisa Nilsson creates anatomical cross-sections made with a complex paper rolling technique called quilling or paper filigree, a decorative craft that was very popular in the 18th century. Mysterious regions of the human body emerge slowly as we view her delicate yet creepy anatomical cross-sections made out of Japanese mulberry paper. The “bones” represented in her work are created from the gilded edges of old books. See more after the jump!
