We recently visited the studio of Ken Davis as he prepared for his first solo show, “It’s Alive,” which opened at Empire Seven Studios in San Jose last Friday. A fervent proponent of anything and everything handmade, Davis specializes in hand-painted signs and Victorian glass inlay techniques, utilizing these traditional methods to create tongue-in-cheek text-based and figurative works with a contemporary sensibility.
