FAME Festival Art Exhibition
The FAME Festival in Grottaglie, Italy (see our ongoing coverage here and here) is a strange experiment in globalization. A dozen urban artists from all over the world invade the small, sparsely populated Italian town, bringing new forms of expression to a sleepy city with an age-old tradition of artisanal ceramics — the epitome of the New World colliding with the old from an outsider’s point of view. However, the result breaks these binary ideas; instead, the festival fosters a unique creative environment where cultures meet and every boundary of medium and subject matter is pushed for the participating street artists and local artisans. To follow up on our previous coverage of the murals, we bring you Henrik Haven’s photos of the resulting art exhibition where the likes of Vhils, Erica Il Cane and Interesni Kazki created smaller-scale works and collaborated on unique ceramic pieces with the local artisans. Take a look at some photos from the show after the jump!
