Devon Dunhill Clapp’s Grotesque Take on Sensuality

Brooklyn’s Et Al Projects currently has a solo show on view by painter Devon Dunhill Clapp titled “die weiße Schweinehund.” Testing the boundaries between fear, death and eroticism, Clapp’s loosely structured paintings evoke simultaneous wonder and aversion. The grotesque is cultivated not through specific imagery but rather through smudgy, dripping colors that destroy characters’ orifices and muddle faces and bodies.
