Beili Liu’s Thorn and Thistle Installation

The multidisciplinary artist Beili Liu created an art installation made primarily of hundreds of thistle plants entitled Encirclement. This installation and performance was created as part of an artist residency program called Djerassi Artist Residency which is located in California. Her work reminds the viewer of nature and it’s fragility. Her materials are simple, however they convey rich metaphors of time, energy, and complex cultural narratives. See more after the jump!
